A very exciting New Years!

Happy New Year everyone!  I am truly thankful for everyone and everything in my life.  A lot has happened in the past year and I am excited to see what this New Year will bring.  Just to name a few things that happened in 2011…
  • Got to see my Great Grandma turn 90 and celebrate with her!
  • Had an awesome reunion in Boston with my college roomies!
  • My brother got a job he has been working very hard towards.. Being a paid firefighter.
  • Got to see Taylor Swift in concert with my Sister!!  Plus a bunch of other awesome country concerts!
  • Took my cousins for a week and got to be a tourist in Boston!
  •  Completed my first Triathlon!! Which I still can’t believe I completed!
  • Made my first wedding cake for my high school friend, Nikole!
  • Got to have a crazy two months of traveling!  Went to Vegas with the Roomie & Parents and went Sky Diving!  Went and fell in love with Denver with my co-workers for a conference!  Took the roomie home and to NYC for her first time!  Lastly, went to Florida to spend time with my grandparents and celebrate my grandma’s birthday!
  • Joined a volleyball league, which I think my family still thinks I’m lying about and laughs every time I talk about it.
  • Got an awesome offer to work at a startup company (one the last day of the year).
  • Had the best Christmas ever with my family!!
  • And thanks to the roomie, have started a Pinterest addiction!
A lot happened and it was really an awesome year!
With this New Year I figured I’d have a few New Year’s resolutions and come-on who doesn’t make at least one! I tried this year creating ones that I can at least hopefully keep!  One is start a blog, which hey I am doing!  Another one was to stop drinking soda and have kept.  I am trying to remember the past is the past and to worry about now and not dwell on the past!  Those are just a few.. I didn’t create many as its too hard to keep too many!

Now, I have always been a true believer in everything happens for a reason, and it continues to amaze me.  For those who don’t know I will be finishing my masters in June and knew that this New Year, I had to get out of babysitting, that I absolutely love doing and do an internship or part-time job that was going to help me in my future.  A family I babysit for kept telling me to send my resume in to the husband’s company.  Of course they have told me since day that I met them to send my resume in, but I never listened.  They finally told me that they wanted to put their son in daycare and that babysitting for them during the day would end soon, and once again told me to put my resume in.  At this point it was November, which was the end of my semester and I had one of the worst group projects that I have ever had.  So like other things, I pushed it off, even though the family kept telling me to send it in!  Finally once my exams were over and after working closing with our career development office, I finally sent my resume in.  Of course this was right before Christmas, but hey at least I had finally gotten it in.

Christmas came and gone, which I think was the best Christmas I have ever had, I still hadn’t heard anything but figure I would hear something maybe after the New Year.  That is until the Thursday after Christmas at 1:30am, I got an email that changed my life!  I was told that I would eventually hear something from the company soon that I had put my resume into, but if I was interested, I could do an internship/part-time job with a startup company.  I read this email maybe five times and kept thinking I must be dreaming; there is no way that this is real.  I almost even woke up my parents because I couldn’t believe what I was reading.  Sure enough, I had read it right.  After contacting the person and meeting with them on New Year’s Eve, I was offered the position.  I thought that this was an awesome opportunity, to see a company from the ground up. I was also super excited to start but knew I would have to wait to start as I was still babysitting for another family.

So here I am... about to start a New Exciting Year that I am sure will have a bunch of changes in it! :)

Love always aloterella :)

  1. I'm so happy for you!! And also glad you got a blog. So much easier than writing letters, but that doesn't mean we can stop. I just put your letter into the mailbox yesterday. I'm waiting for a call from a career's consultant about what to do about my career issues, so hopefully 2012 will be the year of the career!!.
